The Gully Washer, a four-story play structure with an eight-gallon bucket, is another popular spot for the summer.
Winding slide paths
In May 2017, Typhoon Texas opened its doors in Pflugerville, just 40 minutes north of downtown Austin. The park features more than a mile of slides, a wave pool the size of Texas, a 500-yard Lazy River, and a children’s Gully Washer. More than a dozen spray areas make the waterpark one of the top family attractions in Houston.
Among the slides at Typhoon Texas are the Twister, a blue and yellow ride that twisted four times before landing in shallow water. The group of six, including Triniti Taylor, came to celebrate her 15th birthday. Triniti loves to swim and chose Typhoon Texas for her birthday celebration. “We’re secret mermaids,” said Taylor.
Free day for babies
The summer at Typhoon Texas is ending, but you can still enjoy the fun before it closes for the season on a free baby day. The chain of Texas water parks operates in two locations. If you’re looking for a day to spend with your baby, there’s no better place than the Texas heat. Typhoon Texas offers a free baby day on July 23.
Typhoon Texas, located at 555 Katy Fort Bend Rd. Near the Katy Mills Mall is a 25-acre waterpark open daily from May through September. The waterpark has more than a mile of slides, a Texas-sized wave pool, a lazy river the length of five football fields, a toddler slide, and an 800-gallon bucket. There are also more than 100 spray areas for babies and toddlers.
Baby and toddler days are special days in the Six Flags amusement parks. These days, they can enjoy free rides in the park. Free baby days are held all year-round at Schlitterbahn Galveston, and Typhoon Texas is a part of that. The Centers for Disease Control defines toddlers as children ages one to three. Although the CDC defines toddlers as babies, some consider babies as toddlers as soon as they celebrate their first birthday.
A special day for babies to visit Typhoon Texas is the last day of the season. This year’s free day is July 23. The park reopened on May 29. New safety protocols and a reduced capacity made it safe for children, babies, and toddlers to visit. If you visit during these days, you should make your reservation soon.
